LANDBANK volunteers anew to clean the Manila Bay
August 11, 2007. Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) President and CEO Gilda E. Pico led 300 employees in the clean-up of the Manila Bay as part of the Bank's corporate social responsibility program.
Armed with shovels, garbage bins and nets, the LBP employees swept and hauled debris from the shores along Roxas Boulevard. Last year, LBP employees were able to haul several truck loads of garbage from the bay.
Pico explained that the LBP has been conducting the Manila Bay Clean-up for four years now. "Through this activity, we continue to give our share in the preservation of Manila Bay and promote volunteerism among our employees," she added.
LBP undertakes this annual event to encourage its employees to take responsibility for the impact of LBP's activities on its customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of its operations.
Since the transfer of the LBP head office from Makati to Manila in 2002, the Bank has been an active corporate citizen in supporting Manila City government's programs. The Manila Bay clean-up program is also part of LBP's 44th anniversary celebration.
