LANDBANK opens branch in Samal Island, targets at least 19 more this year

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

LANDBANK opened on March 23 a new branch in the Island Garden City of Samal – a 4th class city in the province of Davao del Norte. Located in Zone 4, Barangay Villarica, Babak District, the new LANDBANK Samal Island Branch brings the Bank’s total number of branches and extension offices to 380.

Present during the inauguration were LANDBANK President and CEO Alex V. Buenaventura and Samal Island Mayor Al David Uy, who was the first private depositor to open an account in the branch. Bureau of the Treasury Region XI Director Clara Aurelio was also the present in the ceremonial branch opening.

“With LANDBANK’s presence in the Island Garden City of Samal, we look forward to be part of and be able to contribute to the economic growth of this city that is rich with potential to be one of our country’s well-loved tourist destinations,” Buenaventura said.

More branches in 2018

After Samal Island, LANDBANK targets to open at least 19 more branches within the year in various locations across the country, including low-class municipalities.

“A number of selected locations for our new branches belong to 4th to 6th class municipalities, the same areas we targeted in our financial inclusion caravan. This is still in line with our fervent drive to promote greater financial inclusion, especially among Filipinos in the unbanked and underserved rural areas,” Buenaventura added.

The Bank recently concluded the second run of the LANDBANK Financial Inclusion Caravan, a financial literacy program aimed at reaching unbanked/underserved areas which are usually in the country’s 4th to 6th class municipalities.

LANDBANK is looking to open seven new branches in Luzon, two in the Visayas, and 10 in Mindanao for a total of 19 new branches.

LANDBANK is the only Bank present in all of the country’s provinces with its nationwide network of 380 branches and extension offices, complemented by 1,806 ATMs as of end-February.
