LANDBANK awards outstanding SMEs, corporations, and countryside financial institutions

As part of its 55th anniversary celebration, LANDBANK recognized outstanding small and medium enterprises, corporations, and countryside financial institutions (CFI) in its annual Gawad SME, Gawad Kaagapay, and Gawad CFI programs.

LANDBANK Chairman and Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, and LANDBANK President and CEO Alex V. Buenaventura led the conferment of awards in ceremonies held on August 8 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.

“We give due recognition to LANDBANK’s clients who share our goal of revitalizing our economy through job generation and livelihood opportunities. This is our way of thanking them for their contributions in support of our shared thrust towards promoting inclusive growth, especially in the countryside,” says LANDBANK President and CEO Alex V. Buenaventura.

Now on its 15th year, the Gawad SME recognizes LANDBANK-assisted small and medium enterprises with successful operations and significant impact on the economic and social development of local communities. Velomer Agri Business Corporation, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin and Severina Velos of Malaybalay, Bukidnon bagged first place under the agri-based category. Meanwhile, JRD-D2 Enterprises, a construction company owned by Mr. and Mrs. Porfirio and Evelyn Mina of Tanay, Rizal, was awarded first place under the non-agri-based category.

Mr. and Mrs. Danilo and Regina Ruferos, owners of Regina’s Hatchery Farm from Koronadal, South Cotabato are this year’s awardees of the Gawad SME Bagong Bayani, an award given to former OFWs who have returned to the country and started their own businesses.

 

SM Development Corporation Executive Vice President Jose Mari Banzon receives the Gawad Kaagapay Award (Large Corporation I, Non-Agri-based Category) from Congressman Rico B. Geron and LANDBANK President and CEO Alex V. Buenaventura

 

LANDBANK likewise conferred the Gawad Kaagapay to partner large and medium-sized corporations that contribute to LANDBANK’s support to its priority sectors. Real-estate developer SM Development Corporation was conferred the Gawad Kaagapay for Large Corporation I under the non-agri-based category.

For the medium-sized category, BF Industries, Inc. of Toril, Davao, and Philsouth Builders of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental bagged first place under the Agri-Based and Non-Agri-based Categories, respectively.

Chairman Andres Panganiban and President Abundio Quililan Jr. receive the Gawad CFI Award for Outstanding Rural Bank and Best CFI Availer – Agri-Agra Loans from Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, Congressman Rico B. Geron, Cooperative Development Authority Officer-in-Charge Chairman Benjie S. Oliva, and LANDBANK President and CEO Alex V. Buenaventura. They are joined by LANDBANK Board of Directors Jesus V. Hinlo, Jr., Virgilio de Vera Robes, Executive Vice President Joselito P. Gutierrez, and Senior Vice President Filipina B. Monje

Also honored during LANDBANK’s client recognition ceremony were countryside financial institutions (CFIs). Marking its 20th year, the Gawad CFI recognizes LANDBANK’s partners in providing financial services in rural areas. Cabanatuan’s New Rural Bank of San Leonardo, Inc. was named Outstanding Rural Bank and Best CFI Availer – Agri-Agra Loans. Meanwhile, CARD SME Bank, Inc. of San Pablo, Laguna was named Outstanding Thrift Bank.
