The state-run Bank now has a total of 414 branches and extension offices across all 81 provinces nationwide, further extending its reach to serve more unbanked and underserved areas.   “We hope that LANDBANK’s continuous expansion in Barili and Lamitan City will provide additional touchpoints for our priority clients, especially our farmers and fishers, while helping draw more investors, create businesses, and generate more local employment. Rest assured of our strong commitment to collaborate and support development programs that will accelerate economic activities and rehabilitation efforts in these localities,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. This is LANDBANK’s 20th branch in the Province of Cebu, complemented by 99 ATMs. The Barili Branch is also expected to serve over 13,200 farmers and fishers in the area, as well as more than 12,400 beneficiaries under the Conditional and Unconditional Cash Transfer (CCT/UCT) Programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). 2.48-M unbanked PhilSys registrants sign up for LANDBANK accounts

State-run Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) reports that a total of 2,481,788 unbanked Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registrants have already signed up for LANDBANK transaction accounts as of April, 30 2021. This forms part of LANDBANK's partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to co-locate during the PhilSys Step 2 registration and provide unbanked registrants with their own transaction accounts. Of the total 2,481,788 unbanked registrants, the Bank has already issued LANDBANK Agent Banking Cards (ABCs) to 850,875 of them—free-of-charge and without an initial deposit requirement—while the rest will receive their cards by July. Upon the invitation of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Karl Kendrick T. Chua to co-locate with the PSA, LANDBANK aims to bank at least one household member of the estimated 18 million low-income households applying for the National ID and provide them access to basic banking services and emergency government subsidies. Previously, the PSA reported that 82% of the 10.52 million initial registrants do not have formal bank accounts. “LANDBANK is one with the National Government’s financial inclusion agenda. In partnership with the PSA, we are focused on opening accounts for up to eight million low-income, unbanked individuals from the 32 PhilSys priority provinces at the soonest time,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo.  Unbanked PhilSys registrants can avail of LANDBANK transaction accounts once they have completed the second step of the registration, which covers the validation of supporting documents and capturing of biometrics information. LANDBANK ABCs are given to unbanked PhilSys registrants free-of-charge and with no initial deposit requirement through LANDBANK account opening booths at designated co-location areas. Cardholders can use the LANDBANK ABCs to cash-in, cash-out, and transfer funds at any LANDBANK Branch or Agent Banking Partner. They can also withdraw cash at Mastercard-accepting ATMs, perform cashless transactions, shop online, as well as receive government subsidy digitally. Soon, the LANDBANK ABCs can also be used as contactless cards to pay fares in public transport modes under the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr). LANDBANK is tapping personnel from its eight Branches Groups nationwide, as well as accredited cooperatives, associations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and private entities as Agent Banking Partners, to assist in the account application and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirements at the registration sites. As of April 30, 2021, LANDBANK has co-located in 790 PhilSys Registration Centers in 10 regions, with additional centers in the pipeline as registrations continue to take place in 32 priority provinces nationwide. LANDBANK expands lending program for former rebels, extremists

The Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) has renamed its Lending Program for former rebels to the Balik-Loob Lending Program (BLLP) and widened its eligible borrowers to cover as well former violent extremists, including cooperatives and associations with former violent extremists as regular members. The coverage expansion forms part of the state-run Bank’s support to the National Government’s Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which aims to improve the livelihood of former rebels and violent extremists and their families by financing small businesses and agri-enterprises. “As part of the National Government’s ‘Whole-of-Nation’ approach, LANDBANK supports peace-building efforts in conflict-affected areas. Centered on our thrust of financial inclusion, we are offering financial assistance for the social re-integration of those who have voluntarily abandoned armed struggle to improve their livelihood,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. Under the updated terms of the BLLP, interested former rebels and violent extremists may apply for a loan provided that they will designate an immediate family member as a co-maker. Eligibility criteria for borrowers include an age requirement of at least 21 years old, no pending legal case, and a certification from the Joint AFP-PNP Intelligence Committee (JAPIC), as the government body assigned to verify the identities of former rebels and violent extremists upon their return to the fold of the law. Launched in 2018, LANDBANK’s BLLP has financed livelihood projects, such as sari-sari stores, RTW retailing, fruits and vegetables retailing, and curtain making, as well as agri-enterprises, which include crop production, piggery, and poultry, among others. Eligible borrowers also attended capacity building and skills trainings endorsed under the E-CLIP. The E-CLIP is the flagship program of the National Government for social healing and national unity to achieve just and lasting peace in conflict-affected areas. Unlike previous rebel reintegration programs, the E-CLIP provides a wider array of benefits based on the specific needs of former rebels and extremists and their families, such as financial assistance, housing, education, skills training, healthcare, and legal assistance, among others. For more information about LANDBANK’s loan programs, clients may follow the Bank’s official social media channels at @landbankofficial on Facebook and Instagram, @LBP_Official on Twitter, and @LANDBANK on Viber.

Climaco, Jr., head of LANDBANK’s Branch Banking Sector, led the blessing and inauguration of the LANDBANK Mobile Branch. Joining them were First Vice President Sylvia C. Lim, head of LANDBANK Central Luzon Branches Group, and Assistant Vice President Rogelio P. Samia, head of the LANDBANK San Fernando Branch. In addition to providing basic banking services, the LANDBANK Mobile Branch is also designed to assist the National Government during retail and emergency disbursements or payouts, including cash subsidies distribution under the programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and other government agencies. During the launch event, the state-run Bank also distributed at least 600 LANDBANK Cash Cards to the first batch of City Social Welfare Development beneficiaries under the support programs of the City of San Fernando local government unit. The distribution of cash cards forms part of LANDBANK’s support to the City of San Fernando LGU in establishing efficient, safe and secure cash assistance disbursement to the City’s most vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities and local Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries. At present, LANDBANK has a total network of 411 branches and 66 branch-lite units, composed of branch-lites, Agri-Hubs, LEAFs, tellering booths, and FX booths across all 81 provinces in the country. This is complemented by 55 lending centers in strategic areas nationwide. LANDBANK onboards 5.3-M unbanked PhilSys registrants

State-run Land Bank of the Philippines’ (LANDBANK) continues its collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Project to bring unbanked Filipinos into the country’s financial system and allow them access to a wide range of banking services. As of 2 September 2021, LANDBANK has onboarded 5.3 million unbanked PhilSys registrants for their own transaction accounts through account opening booths at select PhilSys co-location areas nationwide. The registrants have already utilized the LANDBANK prepaid cards for various transactions amounting to P31.8 million. The PhilSys registrants can use the LANDBANK prepaid cards to safely and conveniently manage funds, withdraw cash, perform cashless transactions, shop and pay bills online, and receive government subsidies digitally. “Bringing unbanked Filipinos into the financial mainstream lays the groundwork for inclusive growth, especially as we fast-track initiatives toward economic recovery and sustained development. Access to formal banking services encourages people to save money, repay loans, invest in financial products, and guides them to financial independence,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. Unbanked PhilSys registrants may sign up for LANDBANK transaction accounts once they complete the PhilSys Step 2 registration, which covers validating supporting documents and capturing biometrics information. PhilSys registrants can also activate their LANDBANK prepaid cards and perform their transactions through the LANDBANK Mobile Branches, which are deployed to communities across the country with disrupted or limited access to banking services. The LANDBANK Mobile Branch is designed to service unbanked and underserved communities and areas affected by disasters, calamities, and other disruptive events, which form part of LANDBANK’s intensified efforts to advance greater financial inclusion in the country. LANDBANK affirms its commitment to support the PhilSys Project by co-locating with the PSA to reach more of the unbanked population in support of the National Government’s target of providing at least one bank account for every Filipino household by the end of this year.

LANDBANK’s P50-M loan ‘links’ La Union town to a promising future

ARINGAY, La Union – The Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) has approved a P50-million term loan of the Municipal Government of Aringay for the construction of a three-span bridge which is expected to boost growth and progress for the town’s underdeveloped areas. The new bridge will be built between Barangay San Juan East and Barangay San Juan West to connect seven isolated barangays of Aringay to the town proper, thereby making the transport of agricultural goods and access to essential services safer, easier, and more efficient. Upon completion of the bridge, farmers from the seven barangays can conveniently transport their harvests directly to Aringay’s public market instead of bringing these to Baguio City in Benguet. They will also no longer need to cross a river using a raft or pass through other perilous routes during heavy rains that often add to costs. The more than 14,800 residents from the seven barangays can also safely reach the town proper to access essential services, such as medical assistance, without the risk that comes with crossing the river. The P50-million term loan of the Municipal Government of Aringay was approved under the LANDBANK RISE UP LGUs (Restoration and Invigoration Package for a Self-sufficient Economy towards UPgrowth for LGUs) Lending Program, designed to support local government units (LGUs) in the implementation of their respective economic recovery plans. “LANDBANK is fully committed to servicing the infrastructure requirements of our LGU partners to fast-track the recovery of local communities. These projects are crucial to spur economic activities towards inclusive and sustainable development,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. As of 31 August 2021, LANDBANK has approved loans for 322 LGUs under the RISE UP LGUs Program totaling P88.42 billion. LANDBANK is one with LGUs nationwide in implementing various development projects and in serving the nation as it threads the path to recovery and resiliency amid the ongoing pandemic.

7.2-M previously unbanked Filipinos onboarded by LANDBANK as of end-2021

State-run Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) has onboarded 7.2 million unbanked Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registrants as of 31 December 2021, in line with its contribution to advance greater financial inclusion in the country.  The onboarding is a result of LANDBANK’s co-location strategy with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) at hundreds of registration sites nationwide for the PhilSys Project, where qualified unbanked registrants are provided with their own transaction accounts free-of-charge and with no initial deposit requirement. Of the 7.2 million onboarded national ID registrants nationwide, 1.6 million are from Central Luzon, 1.4 million from Eastern Mindanao, 1.2 million from Eastern Visayas, and 1.1 million from Western Visayas.  “LANDBANK remains committed to reaching more of the unbanked population in support of the National Government’s financial inclusion agenda. We have so far made significant headway in bringing unbanked PhilSys registrants into the formal banking system, as we continue our strategic and fruitful partnership with the PSA,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. The carded PhilSys registrants have already utilized their LANDBANK prepaid cards for various transactions amounting to P86.1 million. These include loading cash into their accounts, withdrawals at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and making payments via point-of-sale (POS) terminals and online, among others.  Unbanked PhilSys registrants may sign up for LANDBANK transaction accounts once they complete the ongoing PhilSys Step 2 registration process, which covers validating supporting documents and capturing biometrics information. Meanwhile, the state-run Bank clarified anew that the LANDBANK prepaid cards being issued to unbanked national ID registrants are not pre-loaded with government subsidy or ‘ayuda’, in response to fake news circulating in social media. LANDBANK reaffirms its support to the National Government’s target of providing at least one bank account for every Filipino household equivalent to 13.5 million accounts throughout the whole co-location partnership with the PSA.
