Tupi Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and spouse Mrs. Rochelle Tamayo (fourth and fifth from left) pose with LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo (third from left), Executive Vice President for Branch Banking Liduvino Geron (left-most), and First Vice President for East Mindanao Branches Group Camilo Leyba (fifth from right). With them are Tupi Branch Head Mary Beth Kalabud (second from left), Vice Mayor Noel Escobillo (third from right) and other Tupi LGU officials. Tupi, South Cotabato Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo led the inauguration of the Bank’s new branch in Tupi located at the Municipal Hall Compound in Barangay Poblacion. This was Mrs. Borromeo’s first branch inauguration since she re-joined LANDBANK as its President and CEO last March 1. “The opening of this new branch forms part of our aggressive thrust to expand our network as we seek to bring banking services closer to our clients,” said Borromeo. LANDBANK Tupi Branch is the first commercial bank in the municipality, and is the Bank’s 10th in the province. This brings its nationwide branch network to 398, which is targeted to reach 410 by the end of the year – with 12 more new branches in the pipeline. Digitization thrust In line with LANBANK’s commitment to provide accessible and responsive customer service, Borromeo said among the Bank’s priority thrusts this year is to improve branch operations through digitization. Part of the Bank’s efforts towards digitization is the implementation of the Digital Onboarding System (DOBS), a web application it launched in 2018 that enables clients to accomplish account enrolment forms online, thereby shortening account opening time. Within four months of implementation, DOBS is now utilized in 104 of the Bank’s branches across the country which reported significant reduction in account opening time from 30 minutes to 10-15 minutes. The Bank targets full implementation of DOBS Phase 1 to all its branches by third quarter of the year. DOBS Phase 2 will link the system to the Bank’s website which will allow individual (including Overseas Filipinos) and institutional clients to fill out account opening forms and upload IDs and documents online, prior to proceeding to the branch to complete the account opening process. The implementation of DOBS makes LANDBANK the first universal bank in the country that offers this service to both individual and institutional clients, including government agencies. Borromeo further urged the local government of Tupi and other clients of the branch to avail of the LANDBANK Link.Biz Portal, especially this tax payment season. Link.Biz Portal is an electronic payment facility that allows payment for taxes, application fees, and other dues and charges in government and non-government institutions. “These are just some of our initiatives but we will continue to make the best use of technology to streamline our processes, improve operational efficiency, and provide our clients with faster, safer and more convenient service,” Borromeo added.

De Leon (right) and LANDBANK Executive Vice President Liduvino S Geron (left) led the MOA signing, witnessed by (standing, L – R) LANDBANK Senior Vice President Ramon Monteloyola, DTI Assistant Secretary Mary Jean Pacheco, and BTr Deputy Treasurer Sharon Almanza. In their continuing efforts to improve and speed-up the delivery of government services, Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) allowing the online payment of business name registration and renewal fees through LANDBANK’s e-Payment facility, Link.Biz Portal. Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, BTr National Treasurer Rosalia V. De Leon, and LANDBANK Executive Vice President Liduvino S. Geron, representing LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo, led the signing ceremony held on September 27, 2019 at the Ayuntamiento Building in Intramuros, Manila. “This is aligned with the mandate of the President, who has always mentioned that the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ should be a primary concern. This is to address long queues and delays in the processing of government services to make business transactions easier for the public,” said Secretary Lopez. Under the agreement, LANDBANK cardholders may now pay the corresponding fees online through the Link.Biz Portal and avoid long queues. The online payment facility, along with the DTI’s Business Name Registration System Next Generation or BNRS Next Gen (an online platform where the public could register and renew their business names), aims to make the process more convenient and efficient. The Link.Biz Portal is an e-Payment facility where LBP cardholders can pay for products and services of both government and private institutions via the internet. Now with more than 600 merchants on board, secure transactions can be made by the public 24/7, anytime, anywhere, even at the comfort of their own homes. “The opening of other payment channels such as the Link.Biz Portal is part of LANDBANK’s dedication in serving more Filipinos, and providing them with more options which enable convenient transactions,” said LANDBANK Executive Vice President Geron. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts in responding to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s mandate of providing the public simpler and more convenient transactions with the government, under the the Republic Act No. 11032 also known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018”. “Electronic payment systems can allow Filipinos to transact with the government in a convenient and cost-effective manner,” said National Treasurer De Leon.

Borromeo, PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea, UnionBank President and CEO Edwin R. Bautista. Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) announced that it has already enrolled nearly 700 merchants to its Link.Biz Portal, which facilitates electronic payment to various government and private merchants, in support of the Government e-Payments (EGov Pay) Program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). This makes LANDBANK the first bank to implement the EGov Pay. At the recent launching of the BSP’s EGov Pay and National Quick Response Code Standard (QR Ph) Programs, LANDBANK said a total of 349 government agencies and 332 private institutions to date are already enrolled in LANDBANK’s Link.Biz Portal, such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), among others. LANDBANK developed the Link.Biz Portal, together with the Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI) and PESONet, in support of the National Retail Payment System (NRPS), a policy framework that seeks to establish a safe, efficient and reliable retail payment system in the country. “We congratulate the BSP for these milestone initiatives. LANDBANK supports these programs as the safest, most convenient and cost-efficient means of accelerating digital payments across the country. Through our Link.Biz Portal, we are able to help government collect revenues efficiently, which facilitates the prompt delivery of social services to the public through a quick and safe payment mechanism via the internet,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. Link.Biz Portal is designed to allow clients to conveniently pay for products and services online for both government and private institutions, using LANDBANK and other PESONet PayGate participating banks accounts, BANCNET-partner issuing bank accounts, Globe G-Cash accounts, and cash payment option. Meanwhile, LANDBANK said it has also adopted the QR Code for person-to-person (P2P) fund transfers between LANDBANK account holders. The QR Code is a two-dimensional bar code which stores digital information and allows clients to transfer funds to a destination account via an online channel or application, where clients could scan/import the recipient banks’ QR Code via their mobile devices.

The Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) is selling to the general investing public the Bureau of Treasury’s (BTr) 23rd tranche of the Retail Treasury Bonds (RTB 23), aligned with the National Government’s goal of promoting financial inclusion and literacy in the country. Interested investors may purchase RTB 23 with a minimum investment of only P5,000 and in integral multiples thereafter, with an annual fixed interest rate of 4.375% within a 3-year term. The public offer period is currently ongoing until February 6, 2020. LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo expressed optimism in drawing a warm public reception for RTB 23, following the highly successful run of RTB 22 and the Premyo Bonds last year. “Our new offering of RTB 23 is a direct response to the growing public demand for safe, affordable, and higher-yielding investment products. Likewise, it reflects the Government’s continuous commitment towards fostering financial inclusivity among Filipino families, where everyone is invited to take part in securing a more financially stable future,” President Borromeo said during the official launch of RTB 23 last January 28. Consistent with the general design of RTBs, RTB 23 caters to the financial capacity of individual investors, referred to as retail investors, to access low-cost, low-risk, and short-term investments which provide higher returns than time deposits. The proceeds generated from RTBs are utilized by the National Government to help fund major socioeconomic projects and initiatives. This year, the BTr is also introducing an Exchange Offer program wherein holders of RTB 3-08, issued on April 11, 2017 and maturing on April 11, 2020, will be allowed to exchange and reinvest their bond holdings for the latest RTB 23 offering at no cost and on improved terms. READ MOREDeposits breached the P2-trillion mark which allowed state-run Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) to record a 16.1% increase in total assets of P2.362 trillion in 2020 from its 2019 level of P2.033 trillion. LANDBANK said deposits expanded to P2.093 trillion, 17.4% higher from P1.783 trillion in 2019. This also fueled a significant 41.4% growth in investments from P694.9 billion to P982.5 billion. “LANDBANK posted marked growth in assets and deposits in 2020—a record achievement given the widespread economic impact of the health crisis. We will build on these gains and continue along this path to better serve our priority sectors, especially small farmers and fishers, micro, small and medium enterprises and other key development players,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo. Reduced economic activities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, however, caused a 7% drop in net income to P17.1 billion from P18.5 billion in 2019. Meanwhile, year-end capital increased by 13% to P168.3 billion from P149.0 billion in 2019. The Bank’s financial ratios also remained strong despite the challenges set by the pandemic. LANDBANK posted a return on equity of 10.80%, which is well above the latest industry average. Return on assets stood at 0.78% and net interest margin at 3.16%. Common Equity Tier 1 ratio continued its steady growth year-on-year from 12.74% to 15.17%. With the Bank’s increased focus on supporting the country’s agriculture sector, LANDBANK’s total loan portfolio to farming and fishing industries expanded from P236.31 billion in 2019 to P237.62 billion in 2020. Of this amount, P43.98 billion benefitted small farmers and fishers, cooperatives and farmers’ associations, rural financial institutions, and other conduits. LANDBANK has also assisted cumulatively 2.67 million farmers and fishers nationwide as of end-2020, or a 133.5-percent accomplishment rate over the full-year target of two (2) million. Of this total, 718,875 small farmers were assisted through the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) and Financial Subsidy to Rice Farmers (FSRF) Programs jointly implemented with the Department of Agriculture (DA). In line with the Bank’s sustained drive for financial inclusion, LANDBANK is present in all 81 provinces of the country through 411 branches, 66 branch-lite units, and 55 lending centers. LANDBANK continues to respond to the growing demand for safe, accessible and convenient digital banking solutions under the new normal. The Bank reported that transactions facilitated through its six major electronic channels—the LANDBANK Mobile Banking App, Link.Biz Portal, weAccess, iAccess, Electronic Modified Disbursement System (eMDS), and Remittance System—collectively recorded a 21% increase in volume and a 36% growth in value in 2020. The Bank recently announced that the waiver on inter-bank fund transfer fees will remain until March 31, 2021. First implemented at the height of community lockdowns and previously extended until December 2020, the waiver covers retail clients who transfer funds through LANDBANK’s online banking channels via InstaPay and PESONet. This continues as the greater Manila area is again placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). "LANDBANK remains committed in balancing service delivery and safety, by providing secure and convenient digital banking solutions while promoting health protection.
